These are the standard GSM codes used by EE, O2, Vodafone and Three, and networks that use their masts such as giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, iD Mobile, Sky Mobile, Lebara and Lyca. "20" is how many seconds your phone rings before forwarding (5 to 30).

How to forward calls

  1. Enter the number you want calls forwarded to.
  2. Choose when to forward: all calls, no answer, busy or unreachable.
  3. Dial the code on your mobile and press call. You'll see a confirmation.
  4. To stop, dial the matching 'turn off' code.

On an iPhone

Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding → turn it on → enter the number. This forwards every call. For missed or busy calls only, dial the codes above from the Phone app.

On Android (Samsung, Pixel and others)

Open the Phone app → ⋮ menu → Settings → Calls or Supplementary services → Call forwarding. Choose always, when busy, when unanswered or when unreachable, and enter the number. The exact menu names vary by phone; the codes above work on all of them.

BT and other landlines

On most BT lines, dial *21* then the number and # to divert all calls, and #21# to cancel. For busy use *67*, for no reply *61*. Call Diversion may need switching on, and diverted calls are charged, so check with your provider. Other landline providers often use the same codes.

Never miss a forwarded call

Forwarding only moves the problem if nobody answers the other phone. With Pathir, you forward to your Pathir number and every call is answered 24/7: questions answered, appointments booked, and urgent calls put through to you. See what missed calls cost with the missed call calculator.

Questions

How do I forward calls on my UK mobile?

On EE, O2, Vodafone, Three and most networks that use their masts (giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, iD, Sky Mobile, Lebara and others), dial **21* followed by the number, then #, and press call. To forward only when you don't answer, use **61* instead; when you're busy, **67*; when your phone's off, **62*.

How do I stop call forwarding?

Dial ##21# to cancel forwarding all calls, or ##002# to cancel every kind of forwarding at once. Press call after the code.

How do I check if call forwarding is on?

Dial *#21# (all calls), *#61# (no answer), *#67# (busy) or *#62# (unreachable). Your phone shows whether it's active and where calls go.

Does call forwarding cost money?

Usually forwarded calls are charged as if you'd made the call from your phone, so forwarding to a UK mobile or 01/02/03 number normally comes out of your inclusive minutes. Check your plan, especially for forwarding abroad or to premium numbers.

How do I forward calls on an iPhone?

Go to Settings, Phone, Call Forwarding, turn it on and enter the number. That forwards all calls. To forward only missed or busy calls, use the codes on this page.
